There is a biographical summary of him in Jim Hutchinson's book variously entitled "Irish Evangelists now with the Lord," enlarged to "Sowers Builders Reapers" finally issued as "Whose Praise is in the Gospel". He was a most influential Irish preacher of truly iconic status amongst Gospel Hall assemblies on both sides of the Atlantic. If all the anecdotes about him were collected it would make for an interesting book.

From: "Truth and Tidings" 1950— EXETER, DEVON, ENGLAND. Our brother Charles McEwen writes, "My beloved mother, Mrs. A. M. McEwen, widow of Mr. John Knox McEwan, went home to be with the Lord on Sept. 30th, [1950], in her 86th year, "greatly beloved by all". A large crowd gathered for the funeral on Oct. 4th., when suitable words were spoken to saved and unsaved. My elder brother, John, was called home on May 12th., so I am the only surviving child. When my mother took seriously ill, I cancelled all meetings for the time. I shall value the prayers of the Lord's people, many of whom I met in the U.S.A., and Canada in 1929."
