Born in Sunderland, Durham, England to Joseph Trevvitt (1851-1912) and Eliza Ann Clarke (1854-1931).
Jack's father and two of his brothers, Joseph William (1881-1949) and Edwin (1890-1966), were Primitive Methodist Ministers. Originally a Collier (Coal Miner), his father Joseph became a Primitive Methodist Evangelist sometime in his 30s.
Jack married Emily Pillinger (1880-1954) in 1910 and they had two sons, Leslie (1913-84) and Sydney (1915-2004).
Jack died at Harrogate, Yorkshire and is buried there in Stonefall Cemetery.
