I'm told the excerpts (in English) of JND's letter to Berger towards the end of this pamphlet are nowhere otherwise extant.

The editor of these documents was David Espenett (1820-86). He was descended from a French Huguenot family which settled first in Rye, Sussex and later in Tenterden, Kent. For a while he was a teacher in a Bristol family and In 1843 he married a Swiss girl Melanie Droz in the Registry Office, Clifton, where he was a friend of several Brethren, including Henry Craik and Ebenezer Mannering whose second wife was Eliza Groves the youngest sister of Norris Groves and Mary Müller. By 1845 Espenett had moved to Val-de-Ruz near Neuchatel in French speaking Switzerland, where he ran a school and evangelized among the peasantry in barns and chalets. He seems to have frequently relocated. He died in Aigle, Switzerland and was buried in the Chapelle évangélique in Cannes. Timothy Stunt
