Dearest Wigram, 
A line as it is post time & I have just received your note. I am most thankful for the brethren’s prayers & rejoice in their sharing the work here. It was half what was on my heart in coming – I am increasingly interested in it, and yet what is happier, so are many souls around. I have had doors open where no one would have thought of it, of course jealousies and ministerial warnings, but a growing sense in a great many that there is reality in Christianity, salvation, living to Christ, that is the real thing, not joining churches and going on with the world. The most important thing really is now that the Brethren themselves should be unworldly & devoted, & indeed in England too. Here at Guelph where I am come with the snow there are now 42 in communion, but Wells is a very true, dear man. In straits as so many in Canada are from bye-gone years of land, buying, doubtless all right for him, the money has been most timely for the Grants, the single one is away up in the bush working away and happily. It came opportunely, setting him free to move about. The other also had never received his arrears from his parish has got quite clear of all he owed & has something to go on with; I gave £25 to the single one in the bush & £35 to the married one in Toronto. He had himself helped his brother out of what
