This item has been scanned from the book "The Eternal Relationships in the Godhead" published by Present Truth Publishers (www.presenttruthpublishers.com), and is reproduced here with their kind permission. I would very much recommend the above mentioned book for further insight into these matters.

In this review Mr Whybrow makes the most serious of charges against Mr Raven when he writes, “This exposes thoroughly the Unitarian character of reasoning involved …” (p. 14). Again, “If this is true, then the Unitarian character of the letter is evident …” (p. 43). Implied in these two extracts is that Mr Raven held a form of Unitarianism and thereby was rejecting the doctrines of the Trinity and deity of Christ.

Mr Mackintosh wrote regarding Mr Raven, “He may have been misunderstood and misrepresented.” It is not simply here a “may have been.” In this he certainly has.

Proper evaluation of material like this requires access to the material being criticized. Has anyone got Mr Champney's letter (or is it elsewhere on this site and I have missed it?). I have long since given up reading only 'one side' as it is regrettably quite common for accounts of conflict among 'Brethren' to be truthful without being honest i.e. a selection of facts are published, but others are not.
